Semi-Spanish Cartoons

I have a 5 year old son, almost 6.  When he was like 2 or so, and started watching some selected cartoons on TV, primarily they were english speaking cartoons.  I have another son who just turned 4.. And, it occurred to me, that in past 2-4 years, the amount of "semi-spanish" speaking cartoons have dramatically increased.. Now we have shows like Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Maya & Miguel, Dragon Tales, and Cooking for Kids with Luis -- to name a few.

Is it just me or is all this going on behind our backs, aimed directly at our children, while we are busy with all of our adult lives?  Are my wife & I some of the only people who are actually aware of what our kids are watching on TV?  Does anyone care or notice the same things I do?  Or am I over-reacting to all of this?  To me, it seems like desensitization.. So that in future years, these crazies will be met with less opposition.

I realize there is a growing hispanic market in America. However, I really have to wonder if there is enough market to justify all this hispanic-favoring programming we're seeing now?

These shows are constantly teaching our English-speaking children the spanish language.  WHY?  Tell me why the heck does my 4 year old son need to know how count to ten in spanish??  Is he going to suddenly find himself in a mexican back-alley trying to barter with a peddler over a few pesos on a knock-off rolex?  I don't understand it!  Why the heck does he need to be able to speak the names of colors in spanish or tell time in spanish?

You know, I wouldn't be opposed to a mostly spanish speaking cartoon that "introduces" english words to these kids whose parents obviously don't give a crap about their child's future.  I can't wait til this kid tries to get a real job speaking broken english or in some ghetto dialect that no one can understand.  Or no, wait.. I'm refering to the world we live in today.. If these people had their way, our children will probably all be speaking spanish as their primary language.

In a time where some of our politcians...

-want to allow illegals to vote
-think it's absurd that some of us citizens want English to be our national language
-give illegals more rights and handouts than citizens (when was the last time you got in-state tuition at an out-of-state college because of your citizenship status?)
-are building some kind of secret highway connecting mexico and canada
-the list goes on..

...are our young and susceptible children somehow being the subjects of pro-illegal alien propaghanda?  Or is there even more to it than just the issue of illegal aliens? What's going on??

In afterword, I hope not too many people take offense to this post, as I am not anti-mexican.  In fact, my wife is partially of hispanic heritage. But for god sakes, she speaks only english and so does her family, the way it ought to be here in the US... And I think latinos have an interesting and important culture...  I'm just anti-people-using-our-media-to-inject-their-liberal-views-on-my-children.
